Psychologist, BA (Hons), DPsych (Forensic), MPsych (Clinical)
Illume Psychology is a boutique psychology practice that offers a nurturing space to meaningfully and collaboratively work through your inner troubles. Trauma and PTSD can be complex and contribute to a range of distressing emotions that necessitates the thoughtful and skilled attention of a dedicated therapist to provide support, help make sense of past experiences and bring to awareness problematic patterns of thought and behaviour to empower you to create sustained change in your life.
I have an extensive background in trauma through my work with young people & adults around sexual abuse/assault, domestic violence & childhood trauma/neglect. My trauma informed practice gives me the basis for understanding & supporting people through trauma. My experience has helped me to understand that trauma is a very unique & individualized experience. For some people, trauma can appear small or unimportant (like a car accident) however to me, all trauma is experienced by the individual as traumatic for them, so whether it is perceived by others as small or unimportant it is important, & valid, for the person for whom the experience was traumatic. I have found that this understanding has been vital in my trauma work & has helped me to support people with all types of trauma. Building the therapeutic relationship, again, is important in this work to create a collaborative, safe & comfortable environment for my clients to share & heal.
Registered Psychotherapist, Amanda Guilfoyle. M.Gestalt T. B.SocSci (Couns)
As a trauma informed therapist I hold your experience gently and work at a pace that is suitable for you to move through your deepest , darkest and most shattering experiences. I use psycho education to keep you informed about the changes in the brain from trauma. Using a combination of Gestalt therapy , Poly vagal theory and other modalities which might suit your particular experience you are taught new ways to navigate triggers and self regulate. With the right support you may be able to integrate what has happened to you rather than the event continually getting in the way of how you would like to be .
Trauma and PTSD symptoms often have very negative and distressing effects on people’s family and intimate relationships, work and career, and quality of life. Therapy and trauma counselling is a key and highly effective method for helping to process and resolve trauma.
Registered Psychotherapist, Masters of Counselling and Applied Psychotherapy (MCAP)
Like with Grief and Loss I am a Trauma and PTSD trained therapist. I see a lot of adults who have experienced prior childhood trauma that is making a large influence in their later years in life. Processing your past allows you to have more freedom and agency over your future.

Our trauma therapists can provide counselling and support following a traumatic event. We can offer EMDR and Schema therapy. We also have a child counsellor who offers art and play based support.
I am a trauma informed counsellor, with experience of providing trauma informed counselling to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, both recent and historic. I also work with people with disabilities who have experienced trauma, abuse, neglect and exploitation.
I also recognise that trauma comes in many forms and you may not even think of your experiences as "traumatic". The impact on the body is the same, whether the event was big or small. Because it is something that happens in the body, it means it can be transformed, rather than only thinking about it as a static event that can't be altered.
We work with people with the diagnosis of trauma and PTSD using a variety of evidence-based modalities, such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, and Relaxation Therapy. For people who are not experiencing dissociative states, clinical hypnotherapy can also be useful to support emotional management following an experience of trauma.
Trauma and PTSD, both huge subjects, form the most common feature in all of Kate’s clients. With considerable experience counselling people through their own unique situations, Kate is ready to help.
I work from a trauma-informed approach- helping individuals- identify the areas of function that need strengthening and connecting to positive aspects of self.
