Meeting online allows you to choose the safest and most comforting environment to you, and, the time when your brain and body are most available for deeper, emotional work. I'll get to know your space, your language, and your stories, and together we'll grow to use your choice of environment and tools as resources for our therapeutic work. While I can't welcome you into an office with a handshake, we're able to meet from our independent spaces with eye contact and genuine expressions of connection. We're still able to effectively use an integrative approach using body-oriented and cognitive techniques in therapy, including: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocess (EMDR) and Dynamic Attachment Re-patterning Experience (DARe), an attachment-based approach to Somatic Experiencing.

Susan Stone

Marriage and Family Therapist, M.A., Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
I work with adults from every walk of life and in diverse circumstances. The common thread: things don't feel manageable anymore. Life has gotten out of hand, and feelings like anxiety, self-doubt, depression, and disappointment seem to be taking over – if they haven’t already. Some might think they are “going crazy!” Others feel selfish because they crave self-care and a break from never being enough. My job (and privilege) is to come alongside you to provide support, feedback, and help you better understand things and make plans to improve things. Sometimes, I will validate feelings that you’ve discounted or point out challenges you’ve grown so accustomed to that you brush them aside, even though they are part of what trips you up. Together, we’ll gain perspectives and insights about how to make things better. Sessions will be via telehealth (live video). While it can take a little getting used to for those accustomed to in-person sessions, the ease of access and being in a space that is familiar and comfortable goes a long way to make up for the distance. Many find that having ready access to their online notes and journals, screen sharing, and the ability to look up information together in session provides extra benefits. As for rapport and connectedness, video therapy doesn’t need to impede these critical features of the therapeutic relationship. In session, we will review the week for clues about what to focus on. We will talk about how things went and how they could have turned out better. I’ll ask many questions, listen a lot, and work with you to identify options for improving life. You’ll tear up sometimes, but you’ll be surprised how often we chuckle.

As a therapist, my ultimate goal is to empower individuals to make positive changes, develop healthy coping mechanisms, challenge negative thought patterns and ultimately achieve long-lasting personal growth. By utilizing evidence-based practices, I aim to equip individuals with the necessary tools and skills to navigate life's challenges and achieve their goals. Recognizing the significance of individuality, I am committed to providing personalized treatment that respects each person's unique journey. My approach to therapy is rooted in empowerment, empathy, and collaboration. I strive to create a safe and non-judgmental space for clients to explore their emotions and challenges. I specialize in addressing anxiety, stress, work place issues, depression, anger issues, trauma and addiction through a variety of therapeutic modalities, including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and mindfulness based interventions. I obtained my bachelor's degree in psychology from Boston University. Building upon this foundation, I furthered my education by completing a master's degree at University of Southern California (USC). With a comprehensive background as a Program Director and Clinical Director in addiction and mental health treatment, my career has been dedicated to helping individuals overcome their struggles and build healthier relationships with themselves and others.
