Working primarily (not exclusively) with First Responders and Military Veterans, I am most effective when helping helpers who are uncomfortable with looking at their own emotions, sensations, feelings and behaviours. Therapy with me focuses on creating a place to feel safe, build trust (even when it feels impossible to trust others) and find safety in relinquishing total control. Roberte is a Human Relations Therapist and has a degree in Psychosocial Intervention. After many years in administration and telecommunications, the pandemic has created a need for her to make a difference in her community and to give a purpose to her studies in psychosocial intervention. She wants to bring back the stability that was once part of people's lives and alleviate the negative effects caused by the pandemic. She offers innovative solutions to address the stigma and mental health barriers in the Black community.
I am a dual province (Ontario & Alberta) registered social worker specializing in mental health. Before entering private practice, I served as the University of Calgary’s Mental Health Consultant where I was the primary on-campus therapeutic support for staff, faculty, and post doctorates. I now work in private practice supporting individuals, couples, families, and groups. I also have specialized training and experience working with first responders and their families in dealing with operational stress injuries. My breadth of experience includes work with patients accessing community public health as well as school aged youth in primary and secondary school divisions.
