It’s a complicated place to be once a person enters a cycle of depression, especially when they consider the kind of emotional energy they think they’ll need to get out of that cycle. It can often leave them feeling hopeless. I can help you find ways to regain a feeling of hope about your life.
In treating depression (which often includes anxiety) I take a wholistic approach to help you develop new strategies and ways of being. Have a trained and empathic presence at your side may help you emerge from depression and once again find joy and connection in your life.
I bring extensive experience to the table when it comes to assisting clients in navigating through depression. My approach involves a comprehensive exploration of the root causes, addressing immediate depression-related concerns, imparting practical tools for enhanced management, and alleviating the emotional pain associated with depression. Collaboratively, I empower clients to rekindle their hope for a more fulfilling life.
I work with clients to help them reframe their thinking so that they can feel their mood lift. I use CBT and EFT approaches in this type of work while teaching coping strategies to help alleviate feelings of depression.
Depression is a low mood that lasts for a long time, and affects your everyday life. It starts as sadness. If prolonged, it then feels like you’re shutting down and becoming less capable of coping. Eventually, you’ll feel numb and empty, and possibly suicidal. Effective treatment can be a mix of psychotherapy, medication, and lifestyle changes.
Depression is more than just feeling sad or down. You can't just "suck it up" or "tough out" when it comes to depression. Unfortunately, depression is incredibly common in men, and part of the reason for this is how society views depression in men.
Depression affects the way you think, feel and act, and depression can cause you to lose interest in activities you previously found enjoyable.
Even though depression can feel permanent, with the right tools and strategies, your life can significantly improve with treatment.
While everyone feels down from time to time, the experience of clinical depression is something else entirely. Clinical depression can include many physical symptoms, like changes in energy, exhaustion, sleep problems, and body pains, as well as overwhelming negative thoughts that can make it difficult to think that you will ever feel better. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, we will slowly work on identifying these negative thoughts and slowly help you start doing the things that are important to you in your life, which breaks the cycle of depression.
Depression can be a sign of many repressed emotions - it takes so much energy to keep our emotions quiet and stored that we lose our life energy. Exploring our depression in a safe, non-judgemental space can transform it.
