It can be hard to forgive the "unforgivable". Forgiveness is a journey and I can support you in knowing how to forgive - but not necessarily forgetting. Sometimes, it is ourselves that we need to forgive. I will help you explore this topic, at your discretion.
I provide a compassionate space to help you navigate the complex journey of letting go of hurt and resentment. Through personalized sessions, I guide you in exploring the emotions and experiences that have impacted you, and offer strategies to foster empathy, self-compassion, and healing. My approach emphasizes understanding the benefits of forgiveness for your emotional well-being and helping you to release the burdens of anger and pain.
Forgive the person and not the behaviour while still having healthy boundaries and not allowing abuse to continue. When people violate in various ways they are acting from their unconscious wounds and anxieties and are not healthy to be around. Lack of forgiveness negatively affects your health.
Forgiveness is a process where someone who has been wronged chooses to let go of their resentment, and treat the wrongdoer with compassion. Forgiveness does not mean forgetting or condoning the wrongdoing, granting legal mercy, or reconciling a relationship. You can forgive a person while in no way believing that their actions were acceptable or justified.
Clients who continue to hang on to painful emotions related to a mistreatment—even though they have every right to hold those emotions—can receive great benefit from forgiveness therapy. A number of positive outcomes, such as reductions in depression, resentment, and rumination, have been associated with forgiveness.
