I have almost 30 years of experience working with people with autism. I have worked in different capacities such as resource consultant , infant mental health and family counselling, child development specialist, behaviour therapy etc.
I have also worked with adults with autism for the last 5 years. I have worked with different modalities and diverse professionals such as occupational therapists, speech therapists etc. I use creative ideas to facilitate each unique individuals learning abilities and enhance their strength based and interests.
I define myself as a “neurodiversity affirming therapist” and feel absolutely honoured to work with neurodiverse individuals and couples. This means I understand and work with autism, ADHD and other neurodiverse groups through the lens of neuroscience. Autism is associated with differences in the brain which result in a divergence from neurotypical standards, in terms of how brains filter and make sense of information. I endeavour to help clients shed misplaced humiliation and a sense of failure by becoming conscious of and removing the notion that ‘typical’ traits are superior. It is the neurodiverse individuals in our society that move humanity along.

I use a human-centred approach and create a treatment plan tailored to each person I work with. In addition to strategies to recognize and cope with ableism and norm-shaming, we might work together to manage the social issues that can arise from having a beautifully differently wired brain. Let's focus on your strengths and skills and build from there.
Kindred Hope's therapists have experience in ASD and AuDHD from teens to adults, regardless of whether they have been diagnosed or not. Each therapist's ability to assist clients is different, particularly since some are also neurodivergent and others aren't. Feel free to ask about it or explore our site to learn more about Kindred Hope's team's understanding.
