I have worked with clients struggling with Clinical Depression since 1983. Depression can be devastation, not only to the client, but to their entire family. Research indicates that a combination of counseling and medication can help address Major Depression. I have written a book on Postpartum Depression titled: "Overcoming Postpartum Depression a Doctor's Own Story" available on Sound Cloud. I also offer Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, in partnership with Journey Clinical for eligible clients.
It’s just as surprising for some people to discover that no one or thing is causing them to feel what they are feeling. It seems natural to assume that I feel bad because of what has happened to me or because of the situation that I am in, but this is just not so. You feel what you believe! Our beliefs determine how we view and interpret life as it happens. And this interpretation of our situation determines what we feel in the midst of it. The good news is, if our belief changes, then our emotion will naturally change as well; even if our situation remains the same.

There are several different kinds and origins of depression. It's important to diagnose accurately -- a physical depression? Situational depression? Hormonal? Or Psychological. Once diagnosed, proper treatment can begin. Often times, depression can be confused with grief.
Often, responsible parents do not recognize teenage depression. The symptoms can be mistaken for the child “just being a teen.” Many teens often complain about being tired. In addition, they go through gloomy periods or come across as irritable at the dinner table. Yet, such common issues may be the beginnings of a more serious depressive episode.
With a blend of warmth and expertise in depression, I employ Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to address unhealthy thinking patterns related to depression. Mindfulness techniques are woven into our sessions to promote relaxation, fostering a sense of calm amidst life's challenges. Drawing from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), we collaboratively work on recreating a positive self-narrative and building skills to combat depression. Emphasizing self-care, I guide you in cultivating habits that contribute to your overall well-being.
We work with physicians on treatment of depression. We also treat irrational thought processes that trigger anxiety using cognitive behavioral therapy.
