Offering guidance and strategies to navigate the complexities of parenting, I help you foster a healthy, supportive, and understanding relationship with your children.
I have over 20 years of experience with assisting individuals with identifying parenting styles, coparenting, developing healthy relationships with their children as well as providing new parent support educational services.
I have been working with children and their parents for over 30 years. I focus on behavior modification and improving communication in the home. I have written several parenting and children's books that are available on Amazon. I am the parent of two adult children.
When counseling parents, we try to emphasize good communication skills as part of the foundation of any parental relationship and utilize our vast training and experience to help families break negative cycles and see themselves as being on the same team, rather than as adversaries as they work through specific issues that are a challenge to having a healthy and fulfilling relationship.
I believe that at times it is difficult for us to see things clearly. My goal is to help you re-adjust your way of looking at yourself and your world, and to help you realize what is possible. I believe that the most important aspect of therapy is the relationship that develops between you and me.
When your children were born, were you given the official parenting class? The one that answers all your questions about how to raise a child? No?
When mine were born, I wasn't given the class either. I wish I could have seen me about my children back in the days when it would have done me some good!
From my own experience of parenting and grand parenting comes a heart for parents to learn how to effectively deal with their children! Never before in history has there been so much information available on the subject of parenting! And never before has there been so much confusion on the part of parents as to how best to parent - especially in this era of social media! We tend to replicate or react to the parenting we received as children. But there are tested and proven principles of parenting that can help parents learn the art and skill of dealing effectively with their children. Our goal is to raise responsible adults, not just obedient children.
