“Behind all your anger, fear, shame, and loss, beneath all your sadness and pain…is the need for love! Know that you are loved, even if you don’t know it! For you are a Being of light and love, a child of God, and one with the entire Universe! Each day comes bearing GIFTS; all you have to do…is untie the ribbons! ” – Author Unknown

Patterns or pain from the past can cast undesirable shadows on the present. It's not uncommon to get stuck in repetitive, unhelpful cycles that feel unbreakable. These can often rob you of what you truly desire and leave you longing for more out of life. In theory, you know your life could be different, but these cycles just won't let you live the way you've dreamed. And for a lot of us, our burdens are not just our own. We have others who feel the weight of what we go through. These people depend on us and care for us. This could leave us feeling shame in the midst of our battle, thinking, "I shouldn't be feeling this way", "I need to be stronger" or "What's wrong with me?"Which only further isolates us from those we wish to be closest to.
I help clients identify and dismantle unhelpful ways of relating to themselves and to others. My clients gain more self compassion and confidence throughout our work together and leave with a greater sense of clarity, direction, and peace.
I was in ministry for 18 years, as well as, taught faith integration in therapy at multiple Christian Universities in Southern California. I walk with people in utilizing the strengths of their faith in order to help heal from whatever is causing difficulty for them
Sometimes it's easiest to speak to someone who supports your religious beliefs.
Power Talk Therapy provides online Christian counseling to adults in California, among other counseling services.
The fact that you’re Christian doesn’t mean that you don’t have the exact same challenges in your life. Christians suffer from the same mental health ailments as everyone else. But, being Christian might mean that you prefer to discuss and work on those challenges with a therapist that understands and supports your religious beliefs first hand.

Having degrees in theology and served in churches both large and small I understand how important the spiritual element is to living a healthy and purposeful life. Whether it's the relationship with your spouse, a family member, or yourself, faith is a crucial part of the equation and something I highlight for the clients who desire for it to be part of conversation. Together we will integrate a faith perspective with whatever bring you into therapy so you can live with more purpose, joy and freedom.
Many people whose faith and beliefs are important to them prefer to have a therapist who shares their world view. They feel free to discuss the dilemmas they face with someone who will understand their way of looking at life without trying to change their beliefs. I like to think of 'Christian Counseling' as the freedom to work through the hard places with someone who will encourage their faith and present options that are congruent with their values.
