Low self esteem can be paralysing and can lead to other issues. however it does not need to be this way. I use both my personal and professional experience to help clients find rediscover themselves and thrive in life. I use both counselling and coaching skills to support clients on their journey.
Self esteem issues are deeply personal & can be incredibly debilitating. How we 'feel' about ourselves is key to balance & happiness. So having low self esteem is therefore, very difficult to live with. I have many years of helping people see themselves differently to the internal image they originally had & that was hampering them. Change can be made & together we can shift those negative thought patterns & stuck beliefs.
At ComposurePsychology we have Clinical Psychologists with many years experience working with people to understand and overcome low self esteem concerns, to learn and practice new strategies for raising their confidence. We draw from evidence based therapies including; CBT, ACT, CFT, SFT, DBT, EMDR, systemic, narrative, psychodynamic and others.

All of us are a unique combination of things we do well, and things we do not do well. People with low self-esteem have a flawed understanding of themselves. My objective in psychological counselling is to help my clients engage in a realistic appraisal of their strengths and weaknesses, and truly celebrate themselves. Many of us have endured experiences sometimes at the hands of family and/or at the hands of peers that have damaged our ability to achieve an objective understanding of what we do well. I believe the goal of counselling is to correct this.

Self esteem is the core of our well being. We often lose it through life experience but we can regain it. I find EMDR particularly helpful in developing greater Self esteem

How we value ourselves can affect our self esteem.
If we feel negative and critical about ourselves and our abilities then we will experience low self esteem.
Low self esteem can affect how we fit in the world, how we feel with family, friends and relationships and how this impacts on us. It could spring from our childhood or adult experiences, school and friendship influences or our partners. We can sometimes feel inadequate or be made to feel inadequate by those around us and even by social media and current socio-environmental expectations.
Working with a counsellor enables you to explore where some of these influences have stemmed from. Acknowledging, accepting and moving through these feelings and looking at changing the negative inner voice, can help build your confidence and self esteem.
Self-esteem is at the core of what we do in life: in our relationships, at work, in our families, and so on. Building self-esteem is a personal path that is essential for all of us.
