As a parent of a child who was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of five years old, this client challenge is very close to my heart. ADHD is a very complex neurodevelopemental disorder. I help children and adults achieve improved attention, organization and emotional regulation. I help them to achieve greater focus and task completion skills using innovative techniques. Many clients suffer from low self-esteem because the disorder is not well understood and often goes misdiagnosed or undiagnosed. This leads to many kids being "labelled" as lazy, disruptive, non-compliant among others. These clients must develop immense trust in the practitioner through a very strong therapeutic alliance. This is the key strength that has led to my immense success with clients challenged with ADHD/ADD disorders and associated "external disorders."
I can treat symptoms of ADHD, which include persistent patterns of inattention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity that significantly impair daily functioning and development.
As a therapist specializing in ADHD, I create a supportive and non-judgmental environment for you to delve into the intricacies of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors associated with ADHD. Leveraging therapeutic methods like Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or Exposure Therapy, I aim to assist you in recognizing and addressing negative thought patterns while fostering the development of healthier coping strategies specific to ADHD challenges.
I have significant experience working with clients with ADHD. I continue to complete trainings, classes, and read updated research techniques as the field of treating ADHD evolves. In addition, I have personal experience living and working with ADHD and all the impacts it can have on day to day life.
