Is anxiety getting in the way of your true potential? When you look at the future, are you overwhelmed with dread or uncertainty? Do you worry that you’ll be alone forever and never enjoy fulfilling relationships? In addition to impacting your mental and relational health, anxiety can even create physical symptoms. You may suffer from headaches, stomach aches, shortness of breath, or panic attacks. Perhaps you can barely sleep because of how stressed out you are. In the midst of your struggles, you may ask: Why can’t I just feel normal? Why do I have to obsessively worry about every little thing?
Anxiety is one of the primary focus areas of my practice. I have significant experience helping many patients break the vicious cycle of anxiety and avoidance.
Fears relate to perceived risk of hurt. Anxiety is fear of felt but non-specific dangers. Each involves the same areas of the brain. My treatment focuses on finding and resolving the core issues that trigger the fear and anxiety responses, except in response to realistic perceived threat.
My approach to treating anxiety focuses on minimizing symptoms and improving life quality, using techniques that build coping skills and encourage engagement with life's pleasures and challenges. This strategy aims to empower you with the tools to manage anxiety effectively, fostering a sense of mastery and well-being.
Psychotherapy opens our perceptions to the meanings behind our beliefs and patterns of behavior, that in turn comprise the roles we take in our lives. My job is to help you integrate these perceptions and access these meanings, so you can expand your life by creating new roles.
Dr. David Steinbok believes that change occurs within the individual, through insight and awareness. By utilizing the therapist as an accepting, non-judgmental participant, one can come to understand what keeps them from moving forward and achieving more satisfaction in their lives.
