"When you're a woman- everything is political"
As a career woman who is a wife and mother of a blended family, I myself I feel intimately connected to the wide array of topics called "women's issues" and am proud to offer support and consultation on all areas of feminine concern.
Women's issues are ones that are not specific to women, but can be-such as the reality of living in a patriarchy and how that affects well-being. Additionally, as someone who specializes in chronic health issues, women's health is another factor that suffers under a system that typically tends to downplay or dismiss experiences that are valid. Whether there are reproductive health concerns, challenges to identity, or stressors related to systems, I wish to support and improve well-being.
I work with women from young adults to middle aged. We can address issues related to relationships, empowerment, self esteem, life transitions including, but not limited to, living on your own, college adjustments, new parenthood, and moving.
Women’s Issues, which I call Women’s Counseling for Empowerment can encompass so many areas. My area of focus is on helping you start to look at what is important to you, who you are, and what you want. Society and upbringing have often encouraged women to become caretakers to others. What happens sometimes is that women lose focus on what is important to them. They instead focus on others' wants and needs and may become burned out and feel lost and exhausted. Therapy is a wonderful and safe place where you can begin to think about what is important to you outside of your many roles and responsibilities. Empowerment can mean shining the light on yourself and stepping into who you are meant to be in this lifetime. We will work together on connecting back to yourself, creating better self-care and self-compassion, setting boundaries, reducing stress, and discovering unrealized hopes and dreams.
