Trauma and PTSD
Psychologist, PsyD, HSPP, LP
Helping you process, integrate and reduce the emotional impact of traumatic experiences in a safe and controlled environment is my goal. This may involve identifying and altering distressing thoughts and behaviors that have followed a traumatic experience. Working with you to gradually desensitize yourself to trauma-related triggers, can help reduce avoidance and dramatically decrease anxiety. My area of expertise is the treatment of trauma and PTSD. Working in residential rehabilitations for substance use disorders and then working at the VA laid the foundation for expertise in this area. I am trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Seeking Safety and Internal Family Systems.

Psychologist, PhD, LPC, PsyD, MSW, Marriage and Family Counselor, LCSW
Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can develop from being exposed to a wide variety of traumatic events such as motor vehicle crashes, home accidents, sexual assault, domestic violence, or being involved in a natural disaster. As the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-V) describes it, PTSD happens after “being witness to or being exposed to situations involving threatened or actual serious physical harm or death.” But it’s important to keep in mind that experiencing a trauma doesn’t mean a person will absolutely develop PTSD.
