My approach to treating anxiety involves helping you identify and alter thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to your experience of anxiety. You will learn coping strategies and problem-solving skills to manage your symptoms more effectively. You may engage in exposure therapy, which is often a component of therapy that involves gradually approaching anxiety-provoking situations in a controlled manner, reducing your fear response over time. Additionally, I am training in ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy) which I use regularly to help with acceptance of anxiety and improving overall emotional resilience.
I use my years of experience and education to look at issues that go along with having anxiety. I address mood instability, emotional and behavioral dysregulation as well as decision making. I assess and treat physical symptoms of anxiety as well as panic attacks.
Anxiety therapy, also known as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) for anxiety, is a type of psychotherapy that I use to help people manage and overcome their anxiety disorders. It works by addressing the thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to anxiety, rather than focusing on the underlying causes.
Our focus in therapy will be to identify the situations, thoughts, or feelings that trigger your anxiety. This helps you understand what sets off your fight-or-flight response and how to anticipate it. It also involves challenging negative thoughts. Therapy helps you challenge these negative thoughts and replace them with more realistic and helpful ones. I assist clients to learn effective coping mechanisms to manage anxiety in the moment, such as relaxation techniques, mindfulness exercises, and deep breathing. These techniques can help calm your body and mind when you're feeling anxious. Bolstering your self-worth through therapy builds resilience against anxiety and equips you to tackle tough times.
Do you worry a lot and can't stop it? I can help you to explore your fears with curiosity and self compassion so that you can stay more present and accepting of your emotions.
I have experienced and seen many different trials. I am passionate about offering a space of connection where clients can express concerns and fears without being judged.
Anxiety and fear often comes from very real experiences in your life. Those experiences are in the past, and the part of you that's scared has trouble recognizing that. Imagine being able to recognize when you're operating from something that no longer applies and set your anxiety or fear aside!
