Systems of oppression impact self-esteem by perpetuating discrimination, marginalization, and negative stereotypes that devalue us based on race, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, or other identities. These oppressive systems can lead to internalized negative beliefs, chronic stress, and diminished self-worth as we constantly face societal messages that undermine their value and abilities. This ongoing marginalization and exclusion contribute to feelings of inferiority, powerlessness, and self-doubt, significantly harming self-esteem and overall mental health. My approach to therapy actively works to reduce sexism, racism, classism, ableism, weightism and other exclusionary classes by helping you understand how you have been impacted by these systems and deconstructing the beliefs youhold that perpetuate these exclusionary institutions.
