I spent a year training on a DBT team working with clients with BPD. I regularly use the skills in my practice and enjoying working with clients with BPD to this day.
We work with individuals with BPD as well as individuals who have difficulties with emotional regulation. We use Dialectical Behavior Therapy in our approach.
If you have a history of unstable interpersonal relationships, high sensitivity in interactions with others, all-or-none thinking, low tolerance for perceived rejection in relationships, and/or low self-esteem, you may have Borderline Personality Disorder.
I have been treating Borderline Personality Disorder for many years. Therefore, it's an area in which I have particular experience. I use a skills-based treatment called Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to focus on teaching my clients techniques in the areas of emotion regulation, relationships, distress tolerance, and mindfulness. Please note that I offer a modified version of this therapy that includes individual therapy only. A full program in DBT typically includes both individual therapy and group therapy which may be a more appropriate fit for you. You and I can discuss which option is the best for your needs.
Borderline Personality Disorder involves a pattern of intense emotional and behavioral reactions to perceived abandonment. Therapy can teach emotional regulation and tolerance as well as new patterns to thinking and behaving.
