Low self-esteem can impact every aspect of our lives, but it doesn't have to define us. In therapy, you'll find a safe and supportive space where you can explore the root causes of your self-esteem issues, challenge negative beliefs about yourself, and learn to cultivate a more positive and compassionate self-image.

Researchers believe that self-esteem and feelings of shame are programed in to us in our early lives. Feelings of core shame can cause us to distort or misinterpret even positive or neutral social or work interactions--leaving us feeling rejected or devalued. This can become a vicious cycle causing anxiety, depression, and stress. If you suffer from low self-esteem and shame, psychotherapy can help you to gain tools to regulate the fear and stress you are experiencing and move toward positive change.
Self esteem is ever changing as it is always influenced by our external experiences (ie: a new job) as well as our internal experience (ie: negative or positive self talk). I will work with you to develop a healthier self image while working through past experiences that have, or continue to wound your confidence.
At the heart of any action we undertake is the belief that we can accomplish it. When we don't have that belief firmly fixed, we often do not try. This applies not only to big things, like applying for a new job or asking someone out, this also applies to micro-situations: belief that we can organize our closet, belief that we can lose weight, belief that we will survive the car ride, or belief that we matter to the other person. This is all self-esteem. Our therapists can help you understand why it's so hard to believe in yourself.

Do you find yourself relying on other people for validation, questioning your worth, or having a harsh and loud inner critic? Building up your self esteem requires self compassion, self-trust, and shifting internal negative core beliefs. Through a blend of trauma-informed, somatic, and holistic approaches we can work together to start shifting the narratives and taking better care of yourself. I am also trained in EMDR, DBT, and can pull from CBT and mindfulness approaches. I love bringing mindful self compassion practices as well to teach tangible ways to become more self compassionate.
All of our therapists can work with patients on increasing self-esteem and gaining insight into why they are struggling with low self-esteem to begin with.
