Forgiveness therapy is not only applicable to situations of significant past trauma, but to many other psychological concerns as well, as learning the capacity to transcend one's rightful contentions about a world or society that has given the person far less than a fair lot in life, can free a person to start to experience pleasure and meaning once again.
