Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW, Certified psychodramatist (CP)
I have extensive history in treating alcoholism, addictions, and other forms of addictive behavior. Using an interactive approach, together we set short-term goals and develop a social support network to not only establish but also maintain recovery.
Counselor/Therapist, PhD-abd, BC-DMT, LCAT, Certificate in Neo-Reichian Therapy
Corinna has been working with people suffering from addiction and substance abuse for over 20 years. She believes addiction is a biopsychosocial disease with a known course and several treatment trajectories. Corinna believes addiction is not a morale issue but acknowledges that addiction induces much shame that people need to recover from due to the damage addiction has caused in their lives physically, socially, and emotionally. She is familiar with medically assisted treatments. She offers compassionate substance abuse counselling combined with creative arts therapy and body psychotherapy to help people move through stages of change to reach their respective treatment goals whether this is harm reduction or total abstinence or anything in between.
I help others manage and resolve difficulties of the heart - love, loss, and work during significant life changes/transitions; e.g., career/job change, death/illness in family, divorce, addiction/recovery, etc.
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, MSW, Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Who wants to feel better?
You, or else you wouldn't be looking at psychotherapists websites. But wait, there's more...maybe you're not sure you can feel better. Maybe you've never been to a psychotherapist before & this is all new to you or was something that "other people" did.
I have written a book Overcoming Your Addictions which shows you how to apply the principles of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy and CBT to your self-defeating addictions. To overcome an addiction you first need to learn to accept yourself unconditionally with your addiction. Your self-defeating addictive behavior does not diminish your worth as a person. Putting yourself down will not help you overcome your addiction. Secondly, you need to learn to build your discomfort tolerance for urges, develop a healthy network of friends who will not lead you back to your addiction, and a vitally absorbing interest in life that makes your life meaningful.
