Depression is as much about one's loss of vitality as it is about sadness and hopelessness. At Bright Start Bright Future, I specialize in providing compassionate therapy for individuals struggling with depression. Depression can feel overwhelming and isolating, but with the right support, healing and hope are possible. In our therapy sessions, I create a safe and non-judgmental space where you can explore your feelings, thoughts, and experiences with depression. Together, we'll work to identify the underlying causes of your depression, develop coping strategies to manage symptoms, and cultivate resilience for long-term well-being. My approach to depression therapy is personalized and tailored to your unique needs and circumstances. I draw from evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you challenge negative thought patterns, regulate your emotions, and build healthier habits. Recovery from depression is a journey, but you don't have to navigate it alone. I'm here to provide you with the support, guidance, and tools you need to overcome depression and rediscover joy and fulfillment in your life. If you're ready to take the first step towards healing, I'm here to walk alongside you every step of the way.

One of my favourite analogies to explain the experience of depression is that depression is like a giant Yeti sitting on top of you all day long. It makes getting up, doing daily tasks, interacting with others, and even sitting extremely hard and tiring. As such, and for many other reasons, walking the path with depression can be profoundly challenging. At the same time, some research suggests that depression has an evolutionary function, namely, to slow us down and focus all our energy on solving the complex problem that started the depressive episode. In essence, it forces us to stop and reflect. In therapy, I support clients to explore their relationship with depression, develop tools to stay regulated when it shows up, get curious if it has an important message for them, and take action towards their goals (which may include responding to depression messages). In my personal and clinical experience, I have seen that depression can be an opportunity for life reflection and profound personal growth.

Registered Social Worker, MSW, RSW
You might have noticed that you have lost interest in activities that used to bring you joy, or you might feel an overarching sense of hopelessness in life and not feel like you have much to look forward to. Perhaps its hard to motivate yourself to do regular activities. I want you to know that it can get better, and you can feel better. We'll work together to identify what life used to feel like before depression, what brings you joy and pleasure and how we can integrate these reflections in to a course of action so that you're able to feel better.
