Sexual abuse reveals a devastating breach of trust that can profoundly impact an individual's sense of self and relationships. Sexual abuse can cause profound emotional wounds that last a lifetime since it is based on the intricate dynamics of power and vulnerability. It can also destroy the foundation of stable attachment ties. Therapy becomes a sanctuary for healing, offering a safe space to navigate the complexities of trauma, process the echoes of past violations, and reclaim agency over one's body and identity. By fostering compassionate connections and addressing the root causes of distress, survivors can embark on a journey of empowerment, resilience, and reclaiming a sense of safety and wholeness in their lives.
By exploring the trauma in a safe environment, we get to process it differently. It is important to understand all the ways the event had an impact on someone to help them work towards a more positive self-view and develop healthier relationships.

Being assaulted, raped or being an incest-survivor is a hurt that you did not ask for or ever deserve. What is even worse is the reaction that others have, if you even tell them, because you can feel broken in response to the abusers power, manipulation and lingering silent control. I have worked with many incest survivors and trafficked humans and children to heal from experiences of the unimaginable. I know it can be scary but I am a professional that you can handle hearing and helping you through your experiences.

Sexual abuse comes in various forms, but they all have one consequence, a disconnection to the self, and a mistrust and disconnection from others. After all, you’ve been invaded by someone else at one point in your life. But it doesn’t mean that your body and personal space is lost. It means that we need to come on full force to protect it and nurture it so it understands that now it’s safe, and to rid it of the energy/energies of those who once preoccupied it by unpacking the trauma.
The effects of trauma and sexual abuse can leave us feeling vulnerable and unsafe long after the event itself. So often people can be left feeling hopeless, disconnected, and ashamed. Healing these wounds are essential to developing a strong sense of self, positive self view, and safety within relationships. I work from a trauma-informed perspective and pull from approaches that will allow us to build an understanding of the protective strategies formed to survive the emotional and mental impact of the abuse, and cultivate self-acceptance and trust with others.
Sexual abuse is a crime and the longlasting impacts cannot be underestimated. I have worked with sexual abuse survivors to heal through the trauma and work towards a healthier relationship with themselves, their bodies, and others in relation.
