Social anxiety often leaves a person with a life tailored to avoid social situations like the grocery store, lines at the bank, etc. Intense thoughts are produced by over-thinking and catastrophizing future situations, for example, and lead to a self-prophecy that reinforces the negative thinking. We would work together on the thinking patterns that have been so instantiated to ensure they are removed, along with coping strategies and skills to use while change is ongoing.
Anxiety loves a mystery. 'What is somebody else thinking about me?' is a great mystery that social anxiety fills in with all the worst endings.
