Offering support in stress management and coping mechanisms using mind-body modalities to target both psychological and physiological responses to stress. My focus is helping clients pay attention to the triggers and physical sensations in their body to better manage their stress responses.
Stress is a natural response to challenges and changes in life. It is characterized by physical, emotional, and mental reactions to stressors, such as work demands, financial pressures, or relationship problems. While a certain amount of stress can be beneficial for motivation and focus, prolonged and intense stress can have negative effects on mental and physical health. Symptoms of stress can include anxiety, irritability, fatigue, sleep problems, and physical symptoms such as headaches or muscle tension.
Managing stress is important for maintaining overall well-being and can be done through various methods such as exercise, mindfulness, and stress-reduction techniques. Psychotherapy can also be helpful in managing stress by teaching individuals coping skills, addressing any underlying mental health issues, and helping them understand and manage their stressors. If you or a loved one is struggling with stress, a licensed mental health professional can provide support and guidance towards reducing stress and improving overall well-being.
Stress is the body's physiological response to adversity. We all experience stress in our lives from time to time, whether that is relationship stress, job stress, racial stress/trauma. We will spend some time understanding how stress shows up for you in the mind and the body. We'll talk about your body's acute stress response, aka "fight, flight, or freeze" response, and engage in practices during session, that bring the body back to its window of tolerance. We'll develop a plan together that includes regular activities and practices to reduce stress in your life and engage your parasympathetic nervous system response (rest and digest).

Stress unveils a profound interplay between past experiences and present perceptions of threat. Early relational patterns, which have their roots in attachment connections, influence our ability to manage stress and overcome hardship. Trauma, whether overt or subtle, can amplify the body's stress response, leading to heightened levels of anxiety and emotional dysregulation. Therapy becomes a sanctuary for exploration, providing a safe space to unpack the underlying attachment dynamics and process the echoes of past traumas. By fostering self-awareness, nurturing secure attachments, and developing adaptive coping strategies, individuals can begin to navigate the terrain of stress with greater resilience, reclaiming agency over their emotional well-being and forging a path towards inner peace and balance.
We all experience stress but when it moves from stress to overwhelm it can be so helpful to be supported by someone outside of the situation. I feel strongly about helping clients navigate through difficult times and life transitions.
Stress, whether from the workplace, family or relationship, is a part of everyday life. With therapy is is possible to see things from a different, more objective 'lens'. It also can help to work with a therapist to explore the options at work, play and home that may not be visible. We can also work toward you developing ways to deal with it constructively.
Explore the biggest culprits of ongoing and chronic stress, and begin to build the skills that are necessary to effectively manage stress. Stress is a part of life and cannot be erased, and our bodies are designed to withstand acute stress. However, chronic and ongoing stress (the kind that is harmful to our well-being) is often caused by lifestyle, certain long-standing behavioural patterns, and a lack of effective skills in communication, coping, and emotional regulation. We will look at all of these areas to explore where change might be helpful, and to begin to learn the necessary skills and tools to manage difficult thoughts and feelings effectively, respond to the challenges of life while taking care of your own needs, and increase emotional resiliency as well as behaviours that will promote vitality.
In today's fast-paced world, stress can become a constant companion. My stress management techniques involve mindfulness, relaxation training, and time management skills to help clients navigate life's pressures with greater ease. We work together to identify stressors, develop healthy coping strategies, and create a balanced, more peaceful life.
