In therapy, we explore how body image and self-worth are connected. You will be provided with skills and strategies targeted to improve self-esteem and self-love.
Body image can be characterized by thoughts and feelings that you have about your body. This image can impact how you view your self-worth and the perception about the value you have in the world. It can also cause a mix of emotions, including feelings of shame and anxiety. By exploring your current narrative, we can begin the process of reframing your experience through a combination of CBT and Narrative therapy.
Body image can lead to feelings of self-doubt and other destructive thinking patterns. I will work with you on strategies for coping as well as looking at the larger family dynamics (if relevant) to ensure the best support for everyone. I will help support you as we work through the thoughts and feelings you are having. Focusing on therapeutic relationship and building trust allows me to help support you while using a solution-focused lens.
How you perceive and feel about yourself is a key indicator of how happy and emotionally stable you are. You may be feeling insecure, critical, helpless, incompetent or unlovable. I work with clients to explore the root of these beliefs and challenge them. This allows my clients to unlearn thoughts and beliefs that are harmful and limiting while learning to genuinely love and appreciate themselves and the value that they bring to the world.
