I have a passion for working with individuals, youth, and families who are currently or have previously experienced; interpersonal conflict, anxiety, depression, trauma or complex trauma, grief, and issues with coping in daily life. Every client is different and I strive to work collaboratively with you to find a comfortable rhythm that best suits you. I focus on building a strong and trusting relationship together and knowing what you are getting into will help mediate those fears. I have my Master’s in Counselling Psychology and am a member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists. I have done post-graduate certifications in; Addictions and Mental Health, Clinical Traumatology, and therapeutic modalities (including Motivational Interviewing, DBT, CBT, Structural Family Therapy, EFT, and IFS). I am a trauma focused therapist. I come at this work from years as a peer support facilitator. I've sat with individuals, families, and groups during exceptionally difficult periods in their lives. What I know how to do is to sit with what is hard, to listen empathetically, to build a space of safety and non-judgement, and create an authentic dialogue with you as we get to know one another.

Over the last 17 years I've been on a journey to figure out what it means to be emotionally healthy. Despite all my education, which includes three Masters Degrees and a postgrad certificate in comedy writing and performing (I'm not sure why I did that one), I'm the first to say that life has been my greatest teacher... that and my wife. She has been very good at helping me see life from a more diverse perspective and to grow in my understanding of healthy conflict resolution, communication, and forgiving (aka be a better person). My goal is to live in a way that will inspire others to want to be healthier rather than to follow what my dad used to joke saying, "Do as I say; not as I do," which is not what you want in a therapist. My style is a mix of CBT, DBT, EFT, solution focused, and logic therapy with my main goal being to help others figure out what it means to be more emotionally healthy a lot quicker than my journey of 17 years.
