Are you lashing out at others or perhaps suppressing your anger? Our practitioners provide healthy ways to express your anger or frustration. Some of the strategies your practitioner may use include: psychoeducation on the nature of anger, relaxation tools, cognitive restructuring (changing the way you think), problem-solving, communication skills support, and supporting you to make environmental adjustments.
Anger management is an area I have many years of experience working with. I aim to help the client understand their anger and to develop effective ways of managing the emotion, and engaging in their lives so that anger is not the primary experience any more. Anger issues are treatable and its important to me to create a collaborative and non-judgemental space in which to achieve the clients goals.
Psychologist, Registered Clinical Psychologists - Dr Peter Gibbons and Adri Hunt
Dr Peter Gibbons has extensive experience in the management and treatment of anger issues and related intimate partner violence with a PhD in this field. Adri Hunt has over 5 years experience in running groups for men who became violent in their personal relationships, and has over 15 years experience working with victims of violence
Anger is often a very misunderstood emotion and the behaviours that result can be scary for others, and even for the person experiencing overwhelming anger. We work with evidence-based techniques that minimise risk while the anger is managed and dealt with, including behavioural therapies, cognitive-behavioural therapies, narrative therapies, and person-centred therapy.
