Dr. Lucy Underwood and Associates have over a combined 50 years of experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mood disorders including Bipolar I Disorder and Bipolar II Disorder. The treatment of mood disorders frequently requires a multifaceted approach that includes CBT, skills training, family therapy, and medication management. We frequently collaborate with prescribers to aid clients in symptom management.
In my experience in treating mood disorders, the client is involved in creating the goals that will be split into long- and short-term programs. The three most important objectives included in the plan of treatment are stress reduction, stabilization, and safety. This treatment plan I generate for my clients is aimed at allowing the client to regain control of their life within a short period after starting treatment.
Bipolar Disorder is a complex and frustrating issue that many people face. As an experienced clinician, I recognize that you are doing the best you can and do not need blame. I offer non-judgmental understanding and the expertise to help you find balance in your life.
The first step in treating bipolar disorder is making sure that you have an accurate diagnosis. We then define your specific symptoms and use techniques to manage them. We will also look to your loved ones and support system and if you choose, involve them in your healing process.
