When you work with me to heal sexual trauma, we first focus on regulating your nervous system - this helps you to feel confident in your ability to relax and self regulate your emotions and thoughts. Then, and only when you feel ready, we can cognitively process those hurts while helping you to maintain a regulated stated. This is what help you to heal. Revisiting and reprocessing your experience while emotionally regulated dissolves the distress associated with these memories. You gain the cognitive space to heal and understand your experience from new perspectives. You heal impacts on your sexuality and sense of trust.
