In my therapeutic approach to treating impulse control disorders, I often incorporate elements of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients develop emotion regulation skills and effective coping strategies when faced with urges or impulses. Additionally, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques assist clients in identifying triggers and distorted thinking patterns that contribute to impulsive behaviors, allowing for the implementation of healthier alternatives and improved self-control. Drawing from Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, I collaborate with clients to set specific, attainable goals and explore practical solutions to manage their impulses, fostering a sense of empowerment and progress in their recovery journey.
