Approach Description: I use a combination of evidence-based therapies to help my clients achieve meaningful and lasting change. These approaches include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and a person-centered approach. Each of these methods offers distinct benefits, and I will work with you to determine which techniques are best suited for your specific needs. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is based on the idea that trying to control or avoid difficult thoughts and emotions often leads to more distress. Instead, ACT helps individuals accept these feelings as part of the human experience and teaches strategies for living a life that is in alignment with personal values. Through ACT, we will work together to help you become more mindful of your thoughts, increase your emotional flexibility, and take committed actions toward the life you want to live. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is another tool I use in therapy. This approach focuses on identifying and changing unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior. By examining the connections between your thoughts, feelings, and actions, we can uncover how these patterns are contributing to your distress and work to replace them with healthier, more constructive ways of thinking. CBT has been shown to be effective in treating a variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, and stress, and it equips you with practical skills to manage difficult emotions and situations. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful therapeutic technique particularly effective for those dealing with trauma. EMDR helps process and integrate distressing memories by using bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements) to assist in reprocessing traumatic experiences. The goal of EMDR is to reduce the emotional charge of traumatic memories and create a new, healthier perspective, which in turn can relieve symptoms such as anxiety, intrusive thoughts, and emotional distress. In addition to these modalities, I emphasize a person-centered approach to therapy. This means that I strive to create a therapeutic space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered. I believe that you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to guide and support you as you work toward understanding and change. This approach is deeply rooted in empathy, active listening, and unconditional positive regard, allowing you to explore your feelings, thoughts, and experiences without fear of judgment.
