I am a Registered Psychotherapist and Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC). I am also a member of Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals (OAMHP). I speak English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
Before beginning my private practice in 2012, I worked for 5 years as a high school guidance counsellor in the United States and for another 5 years as a clinician at a residential program in Downtown Toronto. Since 2012, I've has been providing individual, couple, and family counselling and psychotherapy through private practice. Between 2014 and 2016, I've also provided Employee Assistant Program (EAP) services for different EAP providers. The foundation of my practice is culturally-sensitive and client-centred. I create a non-judgemental, supportive, and empathetic environment for all my clients.
My areas of specialization are depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), stress management, borderline personality disorder, relationship issues, school difficulties, adolescent issues, parenting, motor vehicle accidents, and adjustment issues (e.g., grief, immigration, pregnancy, etc). To name a few treatment styles, I draw on several therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Narrative Therapy.
Life is challenging but I believe that there is always hope. I am a mother of two children so I understand how challenging it is to be a parent in today's environment. I also have many close family members who struggle with mental health issues so I understand how hard it is to support someone with mental illnesses. My services are covered by most extended health care benefits. Please feel free to contact me to see how we can work together.
