With almost 40 years of experience working as a counselor and then a psychologist, I am well-qualified to help you identify what is standing in the way of increased life satisfaction, and help you effectively work towards your goals. People often get stuck in old patterns that make them unhappy, want to change them, but don't know how. I work together with my clients to understand how old patterns in thought, feeling, and behavior got established, and then explore how best to change those patterns. I enjoy doing longer term, deeper work with clients, to create significant, meaningful, and lasting change. I often employ a holistic approach, exploring personal history, thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and relationship history and issues, as well as issues including medical history, self-care habits, and experiences of spirituality. I view the therapy relationship as a partnership, respecting the pace and timing that the client requires.

Education: I completed my Bachelor's degree in Psychology at Colby College in Waterville, ME, in 1981. After taking two years off, I completed my Master's degree in Psychology at the University of Missouri-Columbia (UMC) in 1987. My Ph.D in Clinical Psychology was completed in 1990, also at UMC.

GIven the length of time that I have worked as a therapist, there are few issues that I have not helped people with. I worked in various counseling settings from 1981-1989, and have worked since 1990 as a psychologist. My practice has focused on helping clients who have issues with depression, anxiety, panic attacks, OCD, bipolar disorder, trauma, PTSD, abuse, life transitions, relationship issues, narcissism, divorce, work problems, money issues, stress management, graduate/professional school stressors, and medical issues such as lifestyle affecting overall health, medical fears, chronic pain or illness, and caregiver issues including adult children of aging parents. I am a Certified Mental Health Integrative Medicine Provider as well as a Certified Life Coach.
