As a Jungian Analyst I work with clients with a goal of increased self-understanding, including an understanding of what unconscious dynamics and needs may seek recognition and expression in their life. The work is based on a relational approach in which growth and insight is an outome of mutual reflection and shared emotional experience. This experience, even the most difficult experience, can be understood and represented in symbols, which in themselves play a part in the healing process. The overall goal of the work is psychological growth and healing. Work with dreams can certainly be an important part of the therapy, but a symbolic approach can be applied to the details, relationships and challanges that an individual encounters in everyday life. The work we do in therapy aims to build a capacity to be able make personal meaning of one's life experiences -so that one is nurtured and enlivened by that life experience rather than needing to seek refuge from it in potentially unhealthy ways.

Treatment Approach

  • Jungian
Approach Description: My approach can include working with dreams, but this is not required, as indicated above. My overall approach is relational and symbolic, with an emphasis on building reflective capacity - being able to reflect on and make sense of one's experience - as a basis for emotional health and psychological growth.
