I was inspired to name my practice “Oubaitori” after the Japanese idiom for the four trees that blossom in the spring: cherry, plum, peach and apricot. Each tree has their own unique qualities and do not try to compete with one another to flourish faster, but rather work in a synchronistic harmony alongside each other. For a cherry blossom can never be a plum blossom, just like I cannot be you and you cannot be me. We must accept ourselves in order to grow, rather than wasting time comparing ourselves to everything that we are not, which distracts from everything we are and can grow to be.
