Approach Description: With my approach to therapy, you will find that I do not just sit and stare at you for the duration of each session. We will engage in active, two-way conversations together as I feel that this is a much more effective approach to therapy and strengthening the therapeutic relationship.
It is important for you to know that change will not occur unless you are willing and able to do the work. I cannot do the work for you but am so ready and excited to accompany you on your journey.

In therapy, my first step is to establish a connection with the client. When working with kiddos, I make sure the parents/ guardians and the kiddos understand my obligation to the client over the parent/ guardian. While safety is a primary concern, I utilize my experience and understanding of unhelpful thoughts to determine what information needs to be passed on to others.
It's important for my clients to know that I will incorporate humor, when appropriate, to our sessions. At the same time, I am not afraid to call you out on your sh*t. With my internal dialogue, it pops up that I may not want to share some of the thoughts that I have but my professional experience leads me to sharing, in the most appropriate way possible, anything that I feel could impact your treatment.
I have expressed to clients time and time again that I am here for them, and I don't want to waste their time. As a result of this, it's imperative that clients give me feedback regarding the services I'm providing to them. I cannot read your mind when something upsets or bothers you. If you communicate these things to me, I can then make changes that will be beneficial to your experience in therapy.
