Sarah McManus face to face and online counselling (She/Her)
Counselor/Therapist, Dip.Couns
In-Person in Canterbury, England
Online in United Kingdom
I remember when I first reached out for counselling help, it was one of the scariest things I had to do. Therefore, if you are feeling a little (or a lot) daunted or worried about the next step, I am here to tell you that it is totally understandable and you are not alone! I can be here to help and guide you through your choices at your own pace.
I think of all the things I would want in my counsellor and I try to mirror these with my clients. I aim to be curious, kind, honest, warm and most importantly, I want you to feel you have a real human being supporting you by your side, with personality, individualism and (dare I say it) imperfections!
I live in one of the Canterbury villages in Kent (UK). I was always cynical about therapy and how it could actually improve my wellbeing. However, after several personal years of therapy, I was so amazed by its positive transformations on my life and I was inspired to retrain as a counsellor.I am now qualified and had experience of working with adult clients with a range of mental health issues, as well as being a listener at a national charity for perinatal mental health issues (for example, post-natal depression (PND) suffered in both mums and dads).
I offer a safe space for LGBTQ+ and am HIV/Aids and sex worker allied. I can also offer wheelchair access for face-to-face clients.

Treatment Approach
- Integrative
Approach Description: I am qualified in integrative therapy, which means I will use an approach based on different theories or modalities which are the most appropriate for your needs and feelings.
This includes concepts such as Person Centred, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis. However, underlying all of my practise is the belief that the relationship I have with you as my client will be the most important part of the work we undertake together. This is because I believe that I can give you a kind and compassionate environment where you feel safe and supported with the issues you bring.
Whatever the work we undertake, I draw my beliefs and values from a person centred approach which means I will provide counselling to you in an empathetic and non-judgemental way which puts you, as the client at the centre of the sessions. You decide what you want to bring to the sessions and what direction you want to go with the intention to provide you with a further awareness and understanding of what is happening for you in your life. This can lead to positive growth and change for you, or can help you towards achieving your life goals.
