Alicia Polk (She/Her)
Licensed Professional Counselor, LCPC, LPC, BC-TMH, CCTP-II
You are doing hard and scary work as you search for a therapist. You want to find the right therapist for you and that is why I offer a free, no-obligation consultation where you can ask your questions and get an idea of what I'm like. As a neurodivergent person (ADHD) with a family that is entirely neurodivergent (half have ADHD, half are autistic), I enjoy working with neurodivergent clients. I am certified in treating both autism and ADHD. I also am certified in treating complex trauma and specialize in working with clients with Dissociative Identity Disorder and OSDD. In all cases, I like to focus on your strengths and I will work with you to find the skills and techniques that are the right solutions for your particular needs. I like to provide a lot of education along the way, so that you can understand what is happening, why it's happening, and so you can make informed decisions about your treatment. I am non-confrontational and like to partner with you to work toward your goals. Just like you are unique, my approach to treating you will be individualized. My approach is both attachment-informed and trauma-informed and evidence-based. Although we're often talking about difficult or painful topics, we can often find humorous moments and share a laugh that lightens the load. You can learn a lot more about me and my approach at my website.

Approach Description: I believe you are the expert in you and my role is to provide you information and options so you can make the choices that are right for you. I think of our work together as a partnership. I’m non-confrontational and if I ever want to push back on something or emphasize something, I will tell you that I want to push back, call your attention to something, or consider your statement from another perspective. I like to focus on using your strengths to help you achieve your goals. I don’t use cookie-cutter treatments; my treatment is specific to you and your needs and goals. My treatment is also trauma-informed and attachment-informed and evidence-based. I like to laugh and I find that even when dealing with trauma, we can find humor in the darkness and that can lighten the darkness for a moment.
