I am passionate about helping people to expand the story they write for themselves. We all carry with us a narrative of who we are and who we can become. Living with anxiety and depression, whether long standing or circumstantial, constrains our narrative: “This is who I am, this is who I will always be.” I see the process of therapy to be about connecting with your thoughts and emotions in a way that gives you control over how you respond to, and engage with, your world. I find it remarkable how small adjustments to these areas can have a profound impact on how you see yourself and those close to you. This is the beginning of a richer narrative.

The approach I take with my clients is warm, empathic and directive. Life is hard, and how you have adapted to cope with hardships can, in time, work against you: what was once the solution is now the problem. I see my role to be about helping you take a closer look at the problem; to let go of old behaviours, and to find new ones that allow you to be more in control of how you respond to your world, and the people in it. This process takes courage, hard work and self-compassion, but the rewards can be great.
I use a holistic approach: positive outcomes to mental health are connected with how you take care of yourself physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. There will be space to talk about each of these components of self in our work together. Finally, I place high value on the relationship between client and therapist: creating an environment where you the client feels safe, heard and understood is the most important component to being successful in achieving your therapeutic goals.
I look forward to hearing from you.
