Treatment Approach

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
  • Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
  • Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
  • Existential/Humanistic
  • Narrative
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy
Approach Description: My approach to therapy is strength-based, and client-focused and is based in anti-oppressive practice. I believe our lives can be seen as stories with different plots, characters, settings and events. I also use Narrative Therapy, as we explore the story of your life and the meaning you have ascribed to it, while re-authoring parts that are not aligned with your authentic sense of self and values. I also incorporate strategies from cognitive behavioural therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, solution focus therapy and dialectical behavioural therapy. Prior to becoming a therapist, I spent a decade working with children and youth as a guidance counsellor, helping navigate challenges and develop their sense of self which led me to becoming a psychotherapist. While my work with children and youth drew me to psychotherapy, I also work with families and adults. I recognize that as we move through different stages in our lives it can feel both freeing and overwhelming and I am to support you through these transitions. As someone who is neurodivergent and has multiple exceptionalities, I draw from my personal experiences to connect, support, and empathize with clients struggling with ASD, ADHD, physical disabilities and learning disabilities. I am an ally to those exploring gender and sexual orientation. If you feel there is a lack of acceptance for who you love, or feel that your body doesn’t fit you, I would feel honoured to walk along side you through your journey towards acceptance and empowerment. I also carry a deep passion for working with clients struggling with trauma and complex PTSD. Trauma changes one’s brain and body, often making it extremely difficult to function. In therapy, we will work to re-map your emotions, brain and body, to help you connect with yourself and the present moment. While it takes time, patience and practice, trauma is treatable, and I am very passionate to support you through the process. At Psychotherapy Collective, our online clinic, we strive to help clients live a life aligned with their values. Visit our website, call me, or email me to schedule a free consultation. I am here to support you on your journey.
