As a Registered Psychotherapist, Reiki Practitioner and Mindfulness Educator, I bring a number of modalities to serve my clients such as talk therapy (CBT and interpersonal therapy), experiential therapy (body psychotherapy, meditation and visualization) and energy work (reiki and chakra work). Often it is a combination of modalities that offer the best results.
Self care is a big focus of the therapy I offer - looking at self care from a body, mind and spirit approach as everything is connected. Self care with the body includes reviewing everything you "consume" whether it be food, social media, sleep or exercise. Mind is looking at anything from reading, connection with family/friends/pets and journaling as examples. Spirit is what ever your religion, spirituality, gratitude, nature, animals or beliefs are. Interwoven into the body, mind and spirit is creativity. As children, we cultivate creativity - as we get older, it is not a priority and tends to disappear. Creativity is critical for our expression and flow of feelings which is connected to our self care. The work together includes figuring out where your opportunities are with your self care - body, mind and spirit enhanced with creativity.
Often it is important to work on ourselves and how we be in the context of our environments as we do not have control over anything other than that.
Relationships is often another focus for client work - starting with our relationship with ourselves. Self talk and breath work may be where this work begins. As we get older, we tend to hold onto negative self talk from others and ourselves. As we grow older we tend to breathe shallower and shallower. Easing up on our self talk and learning to breath deeper and longer are powerful tools for healing.
Working on staying connected to yourself, your needs physically, emotionally and spiritually so that you are grounded and then able to do the deeper work needed for healing.
