I am a Marriage and Family Therapist, who has been facilitating change in clients for almost 10 years. I obtained my bachelors degree in Human Development and Family Studies as well as a minor in Psychology. I immediately went on to earn, not only my Masters Degree, but also my Doctorate, in Marriage and Family Therapy from the accredited program at Texas Tech University. While in school, I taught several courses in communication, ethics and social civility. I have found that my experience teaching has helped with my expertise in communication in private practice.
After graduation, I pursued my dream of starting a private practice in the Dallas area. However, prior to this time, I gained many areas of experience, due to several therapeutic internship opportunities and employment. I worked as a clinical intern on Texas Tech campus, where I gained extensive knowledge in working with couples, individuals and families for various degrees of relationship concerns. I was also employed at the Children’s Advocacy Center, where I obtained therapeutic experience working with children and adolescents dealing with different degrees of abuse and trauma. I also worked for the Employees Assistance Program, where my expertise grew in a handful of areas, including job and relational stressors, anxiety, depression and overall conflict management.
I was born and raised in the Dallas area, and feel much pride to be able to serve this population in a therapeutic environment. I currently live in Plano, Texas with my family, including my husband, three-year-old son and our black Labrador. I have been asked on occasion why I wanted to become a therapist and why I continue to work in the field. My answer to those, is quite simple, I love it! I enjoy meeting new people and feel honored, not only to hear, but also be a part their stories. I truly enjoy my job because I love watching the growth and potential in each and every one of my clients. I continue to work in this field because I honestly believe that people can change for the better, and this I have seen over and over again in the last 10 years. I would love to help facilitate change as you see fit for your own life, by instilling hope and strength into your everyday life and relationships. As for many other issues in life that cannot be controlled, I would strive to guide you on the path of acceptance.
