Aloha and welcome! You have taken a courageous next step in reaching out for help. It's not easy to talk to someone you don’t know about difficult and often private things about your life. Most clients say they feel nervous in the beginning of therapy. So, you want to find the right therapist for you. Good for you for ‘shopping around.’ Please see below more about me and how I work!
But please know, our rapport is just as important as the training and experience I offer you. For therapy to be successful, you need to feel heard, understood, accepted by, and connected to your therapist. So, I also invite you to learn about my style and approach as well as my areas of expertise, and if you feel we would be a good fit, I would be very honored to join you on your path to wellness. Together, we’ll help you achieve your goals and find greater meaning, happiness, productivity, and fulfillment in your life!

I see clients who have been experiencing overwhelming stress, sometimes because of a major life change or transition. Some have recently started college, graduated, moved, started or ended a job/career or relationship, gotten married, had a baby, and/or experienced the death of a loved one. Whether ”good” or “bad” stress, these events or transitions have been very challenging for them.
I also help clients who have been feeling anxious or depressed. Some have been struggling with overthinking, nervousness, fear/avoiding, panic, and irritability. Others have been dealing often with feeling sad, down, blue, or blah/numb. Sometimes they are not certain why, but they've been unable to do what they want and need to do and fully enjoy life.
Another area of specialty for me, I also work with clients who have been experiencing the impact of trauma/PTSD. The after-effects of trauma can look a lot like stress/anxiety and depression. A trauma can be from an accident, disaster, abuse/assault, war, or death of loved one. It can also be a one time incident or a recurring experience. Different from anxiety and depression, my clients experiencing trauma/PTSD feel like they are reliving the "nightmare" over and over again.
Sometimes clients' trauma is related to a (dis)ability, another area of expertise for me. Ability-related differences often involve adjusting to recent physical changes or loss or dealing with ongoing disability- related stigma, social and institutional barriers.
With any of these challenges, clients often feel not only unwell physically, mentally, or emotionally, but also are having troubles doing their best at school/work, or home, in their relationships, and/or with taking care of themselves.
If you're having some of these experiences, you are not alone and there is help! Are you motivated to better cope with life's changes and challenges, to heal and grow from traumatic experience in unexpected ways , to get your life back on track, and to be a happier and more fulfilled you? If so, then you've come to the right place!
