Me: I am warm, informal, highly engaging and I care deeply about my clients because I want them to feel better. Effectively, this means I am trying to work myself out of a job *grin*, but that truly is the goal, right?, to help you feel better so you can live your best life! I infuse humor into sessions when and if appropriate because laughter and joy is a form of medicine in and of itself and therapy doesn't have to be 100% intense and serious every step of the way. Clients with whom I work consistently report positive growth and an overall improvement in their quality of life. My favorite quote from a client after a few sessions of EMDR therapy together is: "I don't know what kind of witch doctor you are, but this sh*t works!" While I am neither a witch nor a doctor, I am committed to supporting my clients as they grow into and/or reclaim their own similar feeling of success.

Quality Services for Clients Rather Than Quantity (see more on this below)
Yes, you absolutely can utilize less expensive therapy options, of which there are many. There are online companies offering relatively inexpensive teletherapy sessions and established practices that accept insurance which reduces the direct cost to you, the consumer. While it is possible to get good care from any of these alternate options, they do come with caveats. To be frank, the big online-only teletherapy industry pays their clinicians very little which results in two things: 1) Those jobs attract therapists just starting out because they are being paid a flat rate as entry-level therapists, regardless of the number of years of experience or specialized training they accrue or bring to the job. 2) To make a living wage, the therapists have to stack their schedule to see up to 50 clients a week which does not leave time to personalize and individualize care for their clients. When insurance is accepted, it creates yet another set of complexities: the insurance billing and processing is a full time job and requires frequent auditing of processes which ensures the therapist is paid by the insurance company and doesn't benefit the client directly. Additionally, insurance companies pay notoriously low rates, which again means the therapist needs to focus on quantity (seeing lots of clients each week) over quality (taking time to personalize sessions through planning and preparation pre and post session to created a highly individualized and therefore more effective therapy session for the client). Effectively, you are getting less service in exchange for less money.
When you choose Alpenglow Center as your provider, you are getting quality, personalized care from experienced and well trained clinicians dedicated to YOU and your individualized plan because we cap the number of clients each clinician can see in a week to ensure they have the time to plan, reflect and prepare for each of their sessions as well as participate in ongoing professional development and skill building to enhance their tool kits. Your session fee is not the fee for a single 45 to 60 minute session, rather, your session fee is for the preparation time, session time, post session reflection and planning time each week to ensure great service during your face to face time.
We recognize this boutique model is both Best Practice because it supports the best outcomes for clients AND it is not financially accessible to everyone which is why we reserve a specific number of sessions as Equity Sessions (pay what you can) and Sliding Scale.
