Dr. Conviser holds Certificates of Training in Behavioral Medicine from the University of Chicago, Family and Child Psychotherapy from The Family Institute of Northwestern University and Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) from the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (IAEDP).
Dr. Conviser holds a Master’s Degree in Exercise Science from the Northern Illinois University, and served seven years as their NCAA Division One Head Gymnastics Coach. She earned a Certification in Sport Psychology from the Association for Applied Sport Psychology. Dr. Conviser currently directs Sport Psychology Services at DePaul University and works with athletes, musicians, parents and coaches across the nation to assist them in achieving excellence in performance and competition. Dr. Conviser provided sport psychology services for United States Figure Skating National Champion Silver Medalist (2013), Gold Medalist (2014) and 2014 Sochi Olympian Gracie Gold. Dr. Conviser has annually conducted Mental Training for the United States Figure Skating Senior, Elite, individuals, pairs and dance national teams.
Dr. Conviser is a member of the Advocacy and Communication Committee for the Academy of Eating Disorders (AED) participating in campaigns to reduce weight related stigma, arguing for reduced use of Body Mass Index Measurement in the school settings and advocating for healthy weight related depiction of children in television programming. Dr. Conviser pioneered research, and education in an effort to reduce weight related stigma in the exercise, wellness and fitness arenas. As a member of the Psychosocial Committee of the Illinois Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (ICAAP) Dr. Conviser participates in research, policy development, and physician training for the Pediatric Obesity Prevention Initiative for development and implementation of physician/patient communication training programs endeavoring to improve children’s health and well-being throughout the state of Illinois.
Recent research conducted by Dr. Conviser includes a study of communication challenges among bulimic individuals receiving dental care. The results of this ground breaking study are hoped to improve vital access to dental care for those who have eating disorders. The results were published in 2013 in the Journal of the American Dental Association and related information regarding ED prevention and awareness published in the Eating Disorder Review in 2015.
Dr. Conviser is regularly consulted for senior professional staff training in esteemed institutions providing staff training, program development and intensive care for the most critically ill: life threatening eating disorders, trauma, co-occurring addictions, mood disorders and anxiety disorders. As Founder and President of Ascend Consultation in Health Care, LLC., Dr. Conviser provides clinical behavioral health care in the Midwest and is dedicated to prevention and awareness programming and improving access to behavioral health care.
