Approach Description: My journey into the mental health field is unique as I began my scholastics completing my first master’s degree in music therapy having come from a performance-based background in classical music. Throughout my studies, I discovered a variety of ways to engage with music, how it can help us explore deeper expression of emotion and connection, and how to use it as a tool for healing and personal growth. While music therapy was my entry point to psychotherapy, talk therapy is a central and crucial component in my practice. I recognize that many clients do not feel comfortable using music in our work, or other art modalities, and feel that verbal expression is a more natural way to communicate both needs and emotions. That is why I have a client-centred approach to ensure the approach and modalities we use in session are tailored to meet your specific needs.
I have been fortunate to provide care in a variety of settings including tertiary care, private clinics, non-profit organizations, and the justice system. This diverse experience has allowed me to support children, teens, young adults and couples facing both emotional and relational challenges, exploring and processing grief, and navigating life with chronic and complex health needs. My background allows me to bring a holistic perspective to my practice, enriching my ability to support you through your journey.
In our sessions together I will incorporate a range of modalities to help create the actionable change you are seeking in your life. These modalities include Emotion-Focused Therapy, relational psychotherapy, play-based interventions, mindfulness, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). At Psychotherapy Collective, our online clinic, we strive to help clients live a life aligned with their values. Visit our website, call me, or email me to schedule a free consultation.
