My name is Marlayna (she/they), I am an artist, art therapist, and horticultural therapist (therapy with plants, nature, & gardening!). I come from a mixed Afro-Indigenous American background which has informed much of the work I do. I have worked with various demographics but my main passion is in using the therapeutic space to uplift marginalized communities.

Approach Description: Every client and session is different, sometimes there is little talking and a lot of creating, and others there is only talking. I always work in a person-centered way and offer you a space that is tailored to you and your needs. A passion of mine is providing psychoeducation along with counseling. I love helping clients become acquainted with their nervous systems!

Education: I have a Master of Art Therapy from Western Sydney University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts. I have over 10 years of experience working with children and families, from being a teacher, to support worker, and now art therapist!

  • Affordable sliding scale therapy: apply if you may be eligible.
  • I always offer Sliding Scale and payment plans for those who need it. $30/session for university students.

My work is designed to provide you with the tools necessary to nurture connections and a self-sustainable way of life. I always charge my services on a sliding scale. I believe everyone should have access to creativity and mental health services. In my creative practice, I like to work in communities or in collaboration with other artists. I primarily work with natural materials and explore culturally significant topics. I have a strong interest in working with nature-based art and have found that nature is so beneficial when brought into a therapeutic space!
