Lydia Clemmons (She/Her)

I am a person of long term recovery from substance use disorder, I am the wife of a person in long term recovery and I have 2 adult children that are in recovery as well. When it comes to the power of addiction, there is no one that I can't relate too. I know from personal experience the devastation that addiction brings to a family but also know the power of what recovery can bring. It is not an easy path and often times residential treatment and/or intensive outpatient treatment is a starting point. My desire to help people break free from the cycle of addiction comes from knowing that we do recover!

Approach Description: I am an LBGTQ ally, open minded and meet people where they are, I believe everything we do we do for a reason, even our maladaptive coping skills served a purpose at some point. Behaviors can help us identify beliefs. Beliefs can drive our emotions which then can drive our behaviors. I teach people to identify beliefs that are causing harm, challenge them and take action that allows them to have a different experience which leads to new beliefs.

I work with clients, both new to recovery and those with chronic relapse histories to identify and challenge barriers to recovery and interrupt self sabotaging behaviors. I work with family members to learn how to set healthy boundaries, take care of their own needs in spite of what their addicted love one is doing. I provide treatment recommendations and will go to both jails and hospitals to do assessments and help family members know what their options are.
