My approach to psychotherapy is truly “integrative”. As a psychodynamically trained therapist, I help clients understand the conscious and unconscious influences on thoughts, feelings and behavior. I recognize that the body is the gateway to understanding emotions, and help clients tune in to their somatic experiences as a source of important information. I help clients identify the “root” of their symptoms, and utilize a variety of techniques to help clients heal from the inside out. Mindfulness Mediation and Depth Hypnosis are important tools I use to help clients learn to manage their internal states and to find an inner source of strength, and healing. I am pragmatic in my work, helping clients identify practical tools and solutions for dealing with the challenges that brought them into treatment.
I have considerable experience working with young children, adolescents, adults, couples and families, and I have worked in a wide variety of settings including elementary and high schools, community mental health agencies, hospitals and crisis units. I have extensive training in couples and family therapy, parenting, learning disabilities, and the treatment of anxiety, and depression. In addition to my individual work with adults, teens and children, I also work extensively with parents around parenting issues.
I have presented on a number of topics including Mastery & Learning, The Importance of Play, Growing a Kindergarten Ready Brain, Managing Anxiety in the Classroom, Creating & Maintaining Positive Relationships with Your Children, and Managing Your Child’s Digital World.
In addition to my clinical work, I am also trained in divorce mediation and work with divorcing couples on creating durable parenting agreements. I prioritize the health and well-being of the children and create a space where divorcing couples can work through disagreements.
