In order for therapy to be effective, you need to trust and like your therapist. My style leans toward being both compassionate and direct. I like to educate my clients on the process of healing and personal growth to empower them to make the changes they want in their lives. Whether you're looking to alleviate your symptoms of anxiety or depression, looking for a new perspective on things, or desiring more confidence, my style adapts to accommodate your unique situation. We all want to lead more satisfying lives. It’s the hallmark of the human condition that we are not satisfied with just having basic biological needs met. We need meaning. We need human connection. We need to be understood and accepted. These are basic psychic needs. If we don't get them as a child, symptoms manifest just like vitamin deficiencies manifest in poor physical health. Our psyches have great capacity to heal when we can isolate and identity these psychic deficiencies.
By examining belief systems and stories we have about ourselves and the world around us we can make shifts to discard old ways of thinking and being in the world that are no longer useful for us. By going back into the history of our childhood and life experience, we can see how these stories and belief systems once served a necessary purpose and determine whether or not they are still working for us.
My clients appreciate how real I am with them and can feel my genuine care and enthusiasm for the work that I do. Helping people lead more satisfying and vibrant lives is incredibly meaningful to me and I appreciate my clients for trusting me to guide them in this work. I like to share stories about my own life to illustrate different examples of things if I think that will help a client.
